About the exhibition
Bosphorus is the upcoming solo exhibition of the Brussels-based Studio BISKT, where they present new ceramic sculptural works inspired by the concept of space, its architectural characters and the relationships we create with it.
The duo, composed by Charlotte Gigan and Martin Duchêne, adopts the notion of the border as a thread tying together artworks and ideas that question the relationship between contraposing spaces.
The dichotomic association between private and public space, between interior and exterior, becomes the starting point for an investigation of our relationship with the objects, the signs and the gestures marking these separations.
A place of personal importance for Charlotte and Martin, the Bosphorus cuts in two the city of Istanbul, where they lived and from which they draw endless inspiration, mirroring the multifaceted identity of the city in their hybrid practice between design and sculpture.
Marking the border between Europe and Asia, this peculiar place is interior and exterior at once, familiar, and unknown. In the same way, Studio BISKT invests the space of La peau de l’ours with their most sculptural works to date, marking a new step in their practice.
