Bryce Delplanque’s work explores figurative pictorial vocabulary, focusing on the notions of reproduction and appropriation of images. As a painter, he considers images to be his primary medium. Painting allows him to understand what he is looking at and what it means.

He is particularly interested in the mechanics of how we look at things, especially when it leads to a de-hierarchization of genres, cultural objects, and popular objects. His paintings, although varied in form and technique, reveal a pleasure in the order of things. He seeks to reappropriate the image of the outside world by creating copies, but without adhering strictly to them.
